DeepikaFrom birth to 1½   years, she had no head control. Sitting and turning over to sides was absent. She was unable to follow objects with eyes. Her one side of the body showed marked muscle weakness. She was not lifting up arms to reach for objects. She was having Rt. Side ham paresis and diagnose. Cerebral palsy with mild M.R. with physiotherapy and supportive therapy she improved at present she has improved in neurological sign. She was put on good nutrition chart, Iran folic acid with supportive measurement. After three months of treatment child showed tremendous improvement.

Now at the age of 3 yrs –
With the help of continuous early intervention treatment on one to one basis -

  1. She has full neck control
  2. Is able to turn her head to both sides.
  3. Is able to sit for long periods without any support.
  4. She moves both arms and hands to reach for objects in all directions.
  5. She is able to hold objects using palmar grasp and is able to release them voluntarily.
  6. She is learning to walk and climb stairs.
  7. Is learning to place pegs in pegboard.
  8. Is learning to identify pictures from a book.

She now enjoys peer group and is ready for play school. Started walking with support, she can walk few steps with support. Speaks few monosyllabic words, good social behaviour and improved neurological signs.

About the Founder

Mrs Pramila Balasundaram is the Founder-Director of Samadhan and has a Masters in English Literature and Semantics, Bangalore University. She is trained in Drama Therapy under Dr Sue Jennings, founder of Dramatherapy movement in the U.K and she has underwent hands on Experiential Training course in Germany sponsored by Lebenshilfe, which helped her to launch her NGO...
